Perth International Arts Festival partnership draws attention

The newest commercial office tower in Perth’s CBD at 235 St Georges Terrace will showcase one of the country’s finest visual artists during the Perth International Arts Festival.

Daniel von Sturmer, who was one of only three artists to represent Australia in the Venice Biennale of 2007, will exhibit a spectacular visual arts installation onto the side of the new nine-level commercial office tower due to open next month.

WA property group Hawaiian, which has jointly developed the office tower with Brookfield Multiplex, has sponsored multimedia artist Daniel von Sturmer as part of its support to the Arts community, and to coincide with the launch of the property.

This is the first works of Mr. von Sturmer to be showcased in the City of Perth and the installation can be viewed at the property from 8am until midnight up until Friday 27 February.

Part of Hawaiian’s sponsorship of this year’s Perth International Arts Festival will also include ‘still performances’ from French theatre group, Royal de Luxe, and is being exhibited in Hawaiian’s CBD shopping centre, Carillon City.

Visitors to Carillon City will have the opportunity to view ‘Revolt of the Mannequins’, a visually spectacular exhibition of mannequins which will play out stories over a two-week period in selected shopfront windows at Carillon City.

The mannequins will ‘act out’ episodes of their story each day until Sunday 1 March and can be seen in the shopfront windows of Maggie T, RM Williams and Jordano at Carillon City.

Hawaiian’s General Manager of Investments, Evan Briers, confirmed that the group’s support of PIAF paid testament to Hawaiian’s already strong commitment to the Arts in the community.

“For people who are seeking something a little different in this year’s Festival, these two art forms exhibited in our properties will be well worth a look.

“We have just completed the development of 235 St Georges Terrace and by supporting the Perth International Arts Festival and having the opportunity of a visual arts installation on the side of our new building is something different, and a great way to celebrate its opening,” said Mr. Briers.
